About this session
This session is designed for anyone who lives in or manages a residential property — homeowners, renters, and landlords. It follows the structure of our smoke alarm placement guide, expands on the home fire safety use case checklist, and covers the situation most likely to cost someone their life: waking up in a smoke-filled house at 2 a.m. when the alarm has just gone off.
The session is delivered by a certified fire safety educator with experience in both the US and UK regulatory environments. Sources referenced include NFPA home fire safety resources, USFA home fire data, and UK GOV fire safety in the home.
Hosted by a certified fire safety educator
Reviewed content against NFPA and UK regulatory standards. Full credentials shown at session registration.
Prepare before you join
To get the most from the session, it helps to: (1) count how many smoke alarms you currently have and note their locations; (2) try pressing the test button on one before the session so you know what to expect; and (3) think about how you would get out of your bedroom if the hall was full of smoke. These are the scenarios we will work through together.
